Author: The President’s Advisory 1776 Commission
Written from a faithful patriotic perspective this document promotes a civics education as inspired by God and religious freedom. The document has been removed from the White House website. Some have labeled the document ‘controversial’. Yet, it remains a nexus for further research. Our own Carol Swain served as Vice Chair of the committee.
Craig Bruce Smith of Politco states, “But a thorough, historian-led, nonpartisan commission on the founding isn’t such a bad idea. These kinds of history-driven government initiatives, when done right, have in the past been useful tools for fostering unity and promoting civic responsibility—two things America is badly in need of today”.
