Author: Thomas Sowell
Sowell provides a lecture, as the title suggests, on the broader themes involving race, culture, and equality. Themes impacting equality are economic resources, educational achievement, and geography. Sowell provides historical evidence that there may be no singular reason economic imbalances or improvements. He states, “History, geography, and cultures are influences but they are not predestination”. Providing more resources has not been a necessary solution. Rather, maybe shifting cultural attitudes, innovation specific to one’s culture, or drawing on the lessons learned from others could drive success and increase thriving.
